SAFE WALLET ULTRA Introduction and Future Roadmap

The Best is Yet to Come!!!

SAFE WALLET

Future Roadmap Preview

Introducing

SAFE WALLET ULTRA

IssueBulletTrain has found it very challenging to keep up with Apple’s annual release of four new iPhone models. Doing so has been like trying to drink water from a fire hydrant.

Resolution: BulletTrain will never fall behind the supply and demand curve again, by adopting a one-size-fits-all, future-proof BulletTrain SAFE WALLET ULTRA model.

Objective: This new one-size-fits-all SAFE WALLET ULTRA must be equal to, or superior to any previous generation of BulletTrain SAFE Wallet case for iPhone. We believe this fifth generation SAFE WALLET meets or exceeds these expectations, as outlined and delineated in detail in this article.

Challenges: Ensure the SAFE WALLET ULTRA securely attaches to MagSafe cases so it performs consistently and efficiently, without any unexpected sliding or detachment. Additionally, since the case is designed to last, there’s a focus on minimizing, if not eliminating any form of wear and tear.

This article offers a fascinating preview into the future roadmap for the BulletTrain SAFE WALLET. BulletTrain is renowned for its beloved Minimalist SAFE WALLET cases for iPhone, but decided to stop making them as iPhone cases for current models, and instead replace them with an even more innovative model know as the BulletTrain SAFE WALLET ULTRA. The ULTRA is the ultimate SAFE WALLET in every way.

Above is a preview image that shows features of the new ULTRA, which will work with any Magsafe model iPhone, or Magsafe compatible case, as well as being compatible with all Android phone cases.

The all-new SAFE WALLET ULTRA model holds five plastic cards inside its hollow core wallet door, along with one cash bill tri-folded, as pictured above, or it could easily hold 4 plastic cards and 3 cash bills. ULTRA also features a new ID tray on the left side that can hold any plastic card securely.

There will only one version of the BulletTrain SAFE WALLET ULTRA which will come in black and retail for $129. The $129 price will include a free complimentary restickable door skin.

Get the Skinny on ULTRA SKINS

The all-new BulletTrain SAFE WALLET ULTRA will be made from indestructible TPU, and comes in multiple colors, and will also be skin-able. The images below are for illustration purposes only, as BulletTrain is preparing a Skin store which will offer many cool looking skins.

The 2026 BulletTrain SAFE Wallet ULTRA is pictured below on the left and on the right, which is largely based upon our original 2017 BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI, which we still sell

The 2017 SAFE WALLET MINI is made from polycarbonate, which is hard plastic, and the new ULTRA will be made from TPU, which is a little softer, and most importantly, unbreakable. Just so you understand and don't get confused, all the photos in this story feature our BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI, or an early BulletTrain SAFE Wallet ULTRA prototype that essentially is based upon a our existing SAFE WALLET MINI which has been retrofitted with a Magsafe Magnet array on it's back side.

The image below compares and contrasts our upcoming BulletTrain SAFE Wallet ULTRA with our BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI which we came out with in 2017 as a solution for Android users who wanted our SAFE WALLET functionality. It just so happens, our BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI also works great with many different diverse iPhone cases.

There are a number of differences between our original BulletTrain SAFE WALLET MINI (pictured above on the right, and our upcoming 2026 SAFE WALLET ULTRA pictured on the left:

-2017 MINI is made out of hard polycarbonate. 2026 ULTRA will be made out of unbreakable, softer TPU.

-The 2017 MINI has a 'CASH STASH' on the left side that can hold two tri-folded cash bills (.66MM), but does not have enough room to carry a plastic ID card (.8MM), but the ULTRA does as pictured above. As a matter of fact the final spec model features 1.45MM of clearance for storage space.

-The ULTRA is the exact same height as the MINI, but about a Millimeter wider, and has a slightly more curved door opening handle. By design, in order to make it completely future proof, the new ULTRA will be identical in height and width to Apple's Magsafe Wallet.

-The ULTRA features super high quality 1.4MM N52 Magsafe magnets as a method of attachment, whereas the MINI uses Microsuciton as a method of attachment.

-The ULTRA is expected to only be 1MM thicker overall, which is remarkable.

Below we see a Magsafe BulletTrain SAFE WALLET ULTRA prototype riding piggyback on the back of the dbrand Grip case, which looks really great. I have been testing prototypes with different cases, and despite the fact the dbrand Grip case looks great, it is not very well designed and I would NOT recommend it. dbrand claims their Grip case uses a microdot design, which is what supposedly makes it so grippy, but in my experience, it's the EXACT opposite, as I don't recall ever holding such a slippery case. One of the reasons it's so slippery is they use high durometer TPU for the edge material, but they made it way too stiff and hard.

Below we see my everyday carry setup which features a BulletTrain SAFE WALLET ULTRA Magsafe prototype along with a super-low-profile OhSnap Grip 5 (think: pop socket holder) on a Spigen Thin Fit case for iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is a really well designed and built case.

BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI pictured above with OhSnap Grip 5, which is ridiculously skinny, highly pocketable and super GQ/James Bond cool...

Below we see the OhSnap Grip 5 in the open/elevated position attached to the back of a SAFE WALLET MINI, which is attached to the back of Spigen Thin case, and I was really surprised at how well this combination performs and looks together. I have tried many different grips in the past including Pop Sockets, and they were all terrible, but the OhSnap Grip 5 really impressed me. I was initially concerned that adding the OhSnap would make the SAFE WALLET ULTRA too thick, or uncomfortable, but after weeks of testing I was very pleasantly surprised with how comfortable, ergonomic and un-impeding the OhSnap is!?!!

The OhSnap Grip 5 features a built-in stand feature that allows you to prop up your iPhone or Magsafe case in landscape and it works pretty well. The BulletTrain SAFE WALLET also has a built-in landscape video watching stand which is way more stable, but requires the user to remove their stack of cards by about a quarter inch to lock their phone in landscape (as shown in the photo 3 images down in this story). An advantage to using the OhSnap Grip 5 as a landscape stand, is if you are in a public setting, like a coffee shop or a restaurant, it's more incognito.

Ironically, when attached to my 17 Pro Max the OhSnap offers an amazing steeper portrait slant angle stand, which is fascinating as it ONLY works well with the BulletTrain SAFE WALLET ULTRA attached, and not with just the iPhone, or with just a MagSafe case. Speaking of which, it’s worth pointing out that even though I could use the OhSnap Grip 5 with just the iPhone or iPhone case by itself, I NEVER do as it’s so much more comfortable when riding piggyback on the back of the ULTRA WALLET.

Basically, from my preliminary time of two weeks with using the OhSnap, I feel like it and the ULTRA SAFE WALLET perfectly synergize and compliment each other, and go hand-in-hand, like peanut butter and jelly.

OhSnap! Grip 5

I tried using a Magsafe Pop-Socket grip in the past and found it to be uncomfortable, and most importantly unergonomic. Recently, I took a deep dive and reviewed a number of what are considered to be the best Magsafe grips for iPhone (pictured below), and was stunned at how terribly designed they all were, with the absolute exception of the recently introduced OhSnap Grip 5, which is pictured above and below on the far right.

It's not easy to impress me, but the OhSnap Grip 5 certainly has. So, much so, I am considering keeping it on as a permanent fixture on my ULTRA. Part of what makes this solution appealing is the OhSnap Grip 5 is only ~3MM thick, and due to it's flat and round profile, perfectly fits in my hand when in the lowered, closed position. Also, when I put my phone in my pocket and pull it out, it's completely friction free, and very low profile as you can see in the photos above.

Another key observation I noticed is if you use the BulletTrain SAFE WALLET ULTRA attached by itself to the back of a Magsafe case, it kind of acts like a pseudo grip, in the sense that when it's attached to a Magsafe case, its way easier to hold the ULTRA than the phone case itself, and I also noticed when I walk and hold my Magsafe case with the ULTRA attached, it makes holding much easier and ergonomic as the ULTRA gives you a place to hold on or grab the top corner with your index finger.

BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI

Below we see photos of a BulletTrain SAFE WALLET MINI on the back of a Spigen Thin Fit case. This first photo also shows the built-in MagicStand feature that holds up the iPhone case perfectly in portrait.

Next, we see two images that show the iPhone 17 PRO MAX in a Black Spigen Thin Fit case, with a BulletTrain SAFE WALLET MINI attached to the back, and the built-in MagicStand allows the user to rotate the iPhone from portrait to landscape instantly and effortlessly.

The way the MagicStand feature works, is the user simply pushes their stack of 5 plastic cards out of the hollow core wallet door by a quarter inch or more, which serves to automatically lock-out the landscape stand at the perfect landscape angle.

Below we see an iPhone 17 PRO MAX in Cosmic Orange in a clear Spigen case, along with a BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI on back. We still sell this BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI model, and although it was originally designed as an alternative for Android users, it works great riding piggyback on the back of an iPhone case.

The SAFE WALLET MINI pictured below is attached to the back of the Spigen clear case using microsuction, and takes only a few seconds to install. Once installed it will stay of indefinitely so long as you don't keep removing it and putting it back on. The user can charge their iPhone 17 Pro Max using USB-C, or with Magsafe wireless charging if they remove their phone from the Spigen case, in order to charge it wirelessly, which is pretty easy to do.

Notice the matching clear Quick Disconnect attached to the bottom of the Spigen iPhone 17 Pro Max case pictured above. This makes it compatible with our SAFE PURSE straps and SAFE LEASH lanyard straps. I am an avid snowboarder, and our SAFE LEASH is invaluable for securing your iPhone while using on a Chairlift as pictured below.

Below we see our BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI attached to the back of my Spigen iPhone 17 Pro Max Thin case, that is accessorized with our updated quick disconnect for SAFE LEASH.

Our new SAFE WALLET ULTRA will come standard with MagSafe which will secure it perfectly to the back of a high quality Magsafe phone case, which will work perfectly for everyday life.

For customers who need a failsafe method of attachment with their ULTRA we will offer a VHB accessory kit, which will basically crazy glue our ULTRA to the back of most iPhone cases, so it can't fall off under any conditions whatsoever.

The BulletTrain SAFE Wallet ULTRA will also be the best and skinniest freestanding minimalist wallet, and with our optional micro-suction kit will be able to hold 6 cards internally, and two cards on the outside, for a total of 8 cards, as illustrated in the two images below.

The standard BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI and ULTRA models can safely semi-permanently attach any plastic card to their outside door, as pictured below where we see a Tesla NFC vehicle Key Card attached to the back of a BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI.

If the user were to use the ULTRA or MINI without attaching it to a phone, they could use our microsuciton kit accessory on both sides, to hold a total of 8 cards. In the photo below, the Tesla NFC card could just as easily be a swipeable NFC employee entrance ID card, and the significance of this feature is if you regularly use your work ID card, you no longer have to remove it from your wallet or wear in on a neck lanyard.

back of the BulletTrain SAFE Wallet hollow core wallet door.

For the ladies—or dudes that like to look like ladies—we will be offering our SAFE PURSE Straps as pictured below, which allow a woman to wear almost any iPhone case with her BulletTrain SAFE Wallet ULTRA attached, and also have a place to attach a car key fob or house key chain.

The image below shows the same Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max in a Spigen Thin Fit case, with a BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI attached to the back.

BulletTrain began originally making SAFE WALLET model prototypes for the iPhone 4 back in 2010, and trying to keep up with Apple's constant release of four new models a year has been a complete nightmare, which explains why BulletTrain is coming out with the all-new BulletTrain SAFE WALLET ULTRA model.

The ULTRA will be compatible with basically every iPhone and Android phone ever made, and will work out of the box instantly with all 24 of the current MagSafe compatible iPhones listed below:

PRICING and AVAILABLITY

The 2026 BulletTrain SAFE Wallet ULTRA model is based upon our 2017 BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI, and we have been testing functional prototypes now for a few months, and have absolute proof-of-concept. We recently completed the plastic engineering process and plan to show off renders of the upcoming production model in a week or so.

The beauty of this new BulletTrain SAFE Wallet ULTRA model is it will not only fit and work with EVERY iPhone and Android phone ever made, but will also be 100% future proof. This means if you purchase one for your iPhone 17 model, when Apple comes out with all future models, you will be able to swap and use it instantly without having to purchase a new SAFE WALLET. Part of the reason the ULTRA is future-proof is we are building it to the exact height and width measurement of Apple's Magsafe wallet case.

In the past, the way it worked, is every time Apple would come out with a new generation of cases, we would have to wait 2 weeks after Apple started shipping their latest new iPhone models, until Apple published their formal specs before we before we could even start designing and engineering a SAFE WALLET case.

It would typically take us 4-5 months to work out all the details and get them ready for retail purchase, which was an exhausting process. With this highly innovative new model, that will no longer be the case (pun intended), as customers will only have to buy a SAFE WALLET once, as it will be completely future-proof.

In other words, if you were to purchase a SAFE WALLET for your iPhone 17, the day iPhone 18 models go on sale, you will already have your SAFE WALLET, and for customers buying for the first time, BulletTrain for the first time in our history will have models available to purchase at the launch of the next generation of iPhone models.

This will allow BulletTrain to focus on marketing instead of trying to keep up with Apple's break-neck product release cycles, which always resulted internally with BulletTrain being constantly stuck in production hell.

If all goes as planned we hope to have the ULTRA ready for Retail purchase on BulletTrain.com within 3-4 months, so hopefully by the beginning of Q2 in 2026. We plan to offer the ULTRA model for $129, including free shipping in the United States.

As the designer of the BulletTrain SAFE WALLET ULTRA I can tell you it will be by far and away the best minimalist Magsafe wallet ever made, and will make all other Magsafe wallets look like the half-baked complete junk they are!!!

Over the course of the upcoming months the entire BulletTrain brand will be overhauled including an all-new website. Our new website will still offer our super iconic BulletTrain eXpress Keyboard Platform, as well as our previous generation standard BulletTrain SAFE Wallet cases for customers who want them.

For the record, as the designer of the BulletTrain SAFE WALLET, which was the first Maximalist Minimalist wallet SMART case ever made for iPhone, I made it, as I had to have it and could not live without it. For this exact same reason, I decided to bring the BulletTrain SAFE Wallet ULTRA to life, as I started using our BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI when I upgraded to an iPhone 17 Pro Max.

So I am not bringing the ULTRA to market to make money, even thought I think it will sell very well and become the new standard for smart phone Magsafe wallets, but I am doing this as I am genuinely excited for everybody to benefit from our patented SAFE WALLET technology and patented design we largely developed back in 2012 and in 2017.

The BulletTrain SAFE WALLET is totally James Bond-like, and by far and away the most wholistic wallet solution in the history of minimalist wallets as well as BulletTrain history.

Questions & Answers by Jake

Q1: Are the BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI and ULTRA models comfortable in the hand, and won't they add too much bulk to the back of the iPhone case?

A1: The ULTRA makes an iPhone case more comfortable as it fits the shape of a human hand even better—not to mention—it fits easily in any pocket.

Q2: If you add an OhSnap Grip 5 (pictured above) to the back of a MINI or ULTRA will it make it uncomfortable or harder to fit in my pocket?

A2: Jake has tested many Magsafe grips, and thinks they all leave a great deal to be desired, but the OhSnap Grip 5 is come kind of wonderful, as it works so well, and is so skinny, and easy to fit in your pocket since it's so low profile.

Q3: What took so long? Why didn’t you make a BulletTrain MagSafe SAFE WALLET sooner?

A3: I tested out Apple's Magsafe Wallet when it first came out and found it to be ridiculously terrible. Why? First of all, you have to remove the Apple MagSafe Wallet from your phone case every time you want to remove or insert cards, not to mention the Apple MagSafe wallet can't hold business cards or cash bills, or keys, but all SAFE WALLETs can..

Also, Apple's magnetic solution left a great deal to be desired, as their magsafe wallet would slide all over the place, and would slide and fall off just by looking at it. Thus, I decided to stick with our secure approach at the time which featured a door secured into the case, which made infinitely much more sense.

Q4: What changed your mind? What made you pursue making a Magsafe SAFE WALLET for iPhone?

A4: I was struggling with keeping up with Apple's every changing case shapes, and I didn't need the money or hassle. We really struggled with trying to come up with a great solution for how to handle Apple's dedicated camera button, as it was in such a strange position, as it was flush with the case, which made zero ergonomic sense.

Also, I was not that impressed with the iPhone 16 models, but when Apple showed off the 17 family of models, I was really impressed! At the time I was still rocking my iPhone 14 Pro Max, and wanted to upgrade to the 17 Pro Max for the much better battery size and significantly improved cameras, but like many of my customers, just couldn't do so if it meant giving up my SAFE WALLET.

If there was a company that made a great all-in-one wallet solution for iPhone I would have been happy to close down BulletTrain and call it a day, but every solution I saw was complete garbage.

Then I stared thinking, maybe I could use our BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI, which we came out with in 2017 as a solution for Android users. Then I started thinking about how cool our MINI would be if I added Magsafe magnets that actually worked. I took a long look at many competitors products and it made me realize, I could redesign our SAFE WALLET MINI and make it perfect in every way. So I started experimenting with prototypes, and the first thing I did was make a prototype MINI/ULTRA with a MagSafe backplate and it worked magnificently well.

Then I started thinking about all the other features I could modify or add to make it totally perfect, including building in Apple's 'Find My' support. My plastics engineer and I have been working on it every day ever since.

Q5: Will it REALLY be that much better than all the other Magsafe and minimalist wallets out there?

A5: Yes. Absolutely, or I wouldn't bother making the heavy duty investments. BulletTrain invented the very first keyboard platform for Apple's Bluetooth Keyboard and Magic Trackpad and introduced it back in October of 2010. Every other Keyboard tray out there there today is an inferior copy of our original. The same thing with the BulletTrain SAFE WALLET.

In other words, BulletTrain not only was the very first to market in 2012 with a high-capacity, super ergonomic, iPhone 4 wallet case, but basically pioneered the category. In 2017, BulletTrain was the VERY first company to create a minimalist wallet case that attached piggyback to an iPhone case, when we launched our BulletTrain SAFE Wallet MINI model. This was way before all the copy cats, including even Ridge wallets.

Three years later, in 2020, Apple introduced their Magsafe wallet case which was remarkably similar in design to our hollow core wallet door structure, but they put magnets inside theirs as a method of attachment, whereas the MINI had a backplate that used microsuciton as a method of attachment.

If I was not 1000% certain the ULTRA was an order of magnitude better than EVERY existing wallet case on the market, I would not bring it to market.

Q6: Why did you name the new model the SAFE WALLET ULTRA, and not stick with MINI?

A6: The ULTRA is designed to provide the ULTIMATE smart wallet solution in every way, shape and form—with zero compromise. It's uncompromisingly Ultra-Slim, Ultra-Easy to use, Ultra-good looking, Ultra-Durable, Ultra-Long Lasting, and Ultra-Innovative. You get the idea.

Q7: How sturdy is the ULTRA?

A7: The ULTRA is built-to-last and to be as sturdy and strong as possible, which is why we are making it out of TPU, that is basically indestructible. Every aspect of the ULTRA has been scrutinized to ensure longevity and deliver superb value to customers.

Q8: How many colors will the ULTRA come in?

A8: Just black, but with our skinning system will be infinitely customizable with a zillion colors.

Q9: What will the warranty be on the Ultra?

A9: Probably a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

Q10: Is the SAFE WALLET ULTRA designed to always be kept attached to the back of an iPhone Magsafe wallet case when it's not being charged wirelessly?

A10: For me personally, in all my testing, yes. Granted, you could keep them in separate pockets which I might do when I go snowboarding, and am using my phone on the chairlift—attached to my parka using our SAFE LEASH accessory. In other words, there is no reason to have my SAFE WALLET on the back of my phone while on the chairlift, as I can just keep my SAFE WALLET ULTRA safely in another parka or bib pocket.

I have noticed that the ONLY time I separate My Magsafe iPhone case from my SAFE WALLET ULTRA is when I wirelessly charge my phone, either on my desktop, or in my car, or next to my bed. The rest of the time, they are ALWAYS attached. Also, I couldn't help but notice my iPhone fits much more comfortably in my hand when I have the highly ergonomic SAFE WALLET ULTRA attached to it, compared to just holding my iPhone in a case.

Q11: Where did the registered trademark name 'SAFE WALLET' come from originally, and is it really SAFE?

A11: Yes. The first model of the SAFE WALLET we launched in 2012 featured a very secure double lock door system, and our hollow core wallet door, securely holds all your contents safely, and invisibly, away from prying eyes. Thus the name SAFE WALLET. This is the opposite of all those goofy wallets that look like you are talking into a miniature bible, which also make you a target for thieves as you are unsafely broadcasting to the world that your wall is attached to your phone!?!!

Q12: How securely does the SAFE WALLET cling or attach to the a Magsafe case?

A12: From experimenting with many Magsafe iPhone cases and Magsafe wallets, I quickly realized not all Magsafe cases or wallets are created equally.

We experimented like crazy to figure out how to make our ULTRA so it will stay semi-permanently attached and NEVER fall off by mistake, which is why we developed our own special Magsafe array and orientation magnet system that by far exceeds Apple's standards.

The rear panel of the ULTRA is designed to last and work perfectly forever, which is doesn't have any materials that could ever wear out or flake off, like silicone.

In the future, we will offer a list of highly recommended iPhone and Android cases that work perfectly with the SAFE WALLET ULTRA.

Q13: What is your favorite feature or features of the ULTRA?

A13: Value Proposition. As mentioned, the ULTRA is built-to-last, and most importantly since we are evolving from making iPhone cases to simply making Magsafe wallets, there are so many benefits for customers. First of all, you only have to purchase an ULTRA once, as it's future proof and can work and fit perfectly with any iPhone or Android phone, now or in the future.

Also, I love the fact you can completely change the vibe and look of your ULTRA and case with our new skin system. Most importantly, I love the absolute superior functionality of the ULTRA.

Another favorite characteristic of the ULTRA is it's ULTRA Simple in the way it functions, and in particular it's the epitome of the notion of "A place for everything, and everything in it's place." In other words, not only is everything easy to access, but there is zero extra room for carrying around unnecessary junk. This high level of smart storage organization has always been the hallmark and key benefit of the SAFE WALLET.

We, as human beings are hoarders and we tend to packrat and carry around extra stuff, in case we need it. You could call this George Costanza Wallet Syndrome. The beauty of the SAFE WALLET is that it won't allow you to carry around other peoples business cards, or old receipts, as it only has room for the essential 6-Card Carry, which is by design.

Q14: Is BulletTrain done making SAFE WALLET cases for iPhone?

A14: We are super focused on developing our super innovative all-new ULTRA SAFE WALLET now, but ironically I have also been working on a new iPhone case design. Not a traditional SAFE WALLET case with the built-in wallet, but an ULTRA Magsafe iPhone case designed to work flawlessly with our ULTRA Magsafe wallet.

Just like most Magsafe wallet cases leave a great deal to be desired, so do most iPhone cases, and thus I have been also working on a new iPhone case designed to perfectly complement our ULTRA SAFE WALLET. Also, we plan to keep selling all our legacy iPhone SAFE WALLET case models, as well as our MINI on BulletTrain.com, which are still popular and loved by our customers.
